Prophet’s Mosque Announces Quran Recitation Program for Itikaf Participants in Ramadan 2026
Worshippers participating in Itikaf at the esteemed Masjid an-Nabawi will have access to a special Quran recitation program during the final 10 days of Ramadan 2026. Under the knowledgeable guidance of certified scholars, this program aims to help participants strengthen their memorizing of the Quran and improve their reciting abilities.
The initiative was introduced by the Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Two Holy Mosques as part of its continued efforts to enhance the spiritual experience for worshippers in the holy mosques. Alongside this program, authorities have also launched a women’s support system across several major mosques in Madinah to provide religious guidance and organisational assistance for female visitors.
These new services reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to improving facilities and learning opportunities for millions of Muslims who visit the holy cities during Ramadan.
Special Quran Learning Opportunity for Itikaf Participants
During the last ten nights of Ramadan, believers engage in a very spiritual activity called itikaf, during which they devote all of their time to prayer, introspection, and Quranic recitation.Recognising the importance of this sacred time, officials have created a structured Quran recitation program specifically for those performing Itikaf inside the Prophet’s Mosque.
The program provides participants with the opportunity to revise their previously memorised portions of the Quran and strengthen their recitation accuracy. Under the supervision of experienced Quran teachers, worshippers can refine their Tajweed, correct mistakes, and deepen their understanding of proper Quranic pronunciation.
By integrating worship with guided instruction, this program enables Itikaf members to maximize their time in the mosque. Throughout the sessions, participants will be guided by qualified experts in the mosque to ensure that the recitation follows established criteria.
Focus on Improving Memorisation and Tajweed
The Quran recitation program’s primary goal is to assist worshippers in reviewing and strengthening their memorization. Over time, many Muslims commit portions of the Quran to memory, but accuracy requires regular revision.
Through this program, participants can revise their memorised verses with professional guidance, ensuring that their recitation remains clear and correct. The sessions also focus on improving Tajweed, which refers to the proper pronunciation and articulation of Quranic letters.
By offering direct supervision from qualified instructors, the program creates a supportive environment where worshippers can learn comfortably while maintaining the spiritual atmosphere of the mosque.
Simple Online Registration for Participants
To make participation easier, authorities have introduced an online registration system for the Quran recitation program. This allows worshippers to sign up quickly without needing to visit any office in person.
The digital registration process reflects the Kingdom’s broader push to modernise services for pilgrims and visitors. By using online platforms, participants can reserve their place in the program with minimal effort.
This convenient approach is especially helpful during Ramadan when large numbers of worshippers gather at the Prophet’s Mosque. Online registration ensures that the program remains organised and accessible for all eligible participants.
Women’s Religious Services Expanded Across Madinah
In addition to the Quran recitation program, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has introduced a dedicated women’s service system across several important mosques in Madinah.
Qualified female staff members have been assigned to assist women worshippers at three major mosques:
Al-Khandaq Mosque
Sayyid Al-Shuhada Mosque
Qiblatain Mosque
These trained staff members provide religious guidance, answer questions, and help organise worship areas for women. Their presence ensures that female visitors feel comfortable, supported, and spiritually engaged during their time at the mosques.
During Ramadan, a large number of women congregate in the central region around the Prophet’s Mosque for religious activities and prayers.
Creating a Welcoming Environment for Worshippers
The introduction of these services highlights the continued efforts of Saudi authorities to enhance the experience of visitors in the holy cities. Every year, millions of Muslims travel to Makkah and Madinah during Ramadan to perform Umrah, attend prayers, and seek spiritual closeness to Allah.
Programs such as the Quran recitation initiative and the women’s support services help ensure that worshippers receive both spiritual guidance and organisational assistance throughout their visit.
For Itikaf participants, the new Quran program provides an opportunity to deepen their connection with the Quran during the most sacred nights of Ramadan. At the same time, the women’s services initiative ensures that female worshippers can perform their prayers in a supportive and well-organised environment.
As Ramadan continues, these initiatives are expected to benefit thousands of visitors seeking knowledge, reflection, and spiritual growth in the blessed city of Madinah.
