Makkah Bus Introduces New Route Linking Hira Cultural District with Masjid al-Haram
MAKKAH: Makkah Bus has further extended its network by introducing a new route which will facilitate better access to major religious and cultural sites in the holy city.
The newly introduced Route 9H now offers a direct connection between Masjid al-Haram and the Hira Cultural District, one of Makkah’s most significant and rapidly developing cultural projects located near Jabal al-Nour.
According to transport officials, the service begins from Station 137 and travels straight to the Hira Cultural District, making travel easier for worshippers, visitors, and residents alike. The route has been designed to support the growing number of people visiting the area, especially those interested in the historical and cultural importance of Hira.
The opening of Route 9H has enabled visitors to the Hira Cultural District to experience the islamic heritage offerings and contemporary visitor amenities. Hira Cultural District is now accessible.
Makkah officials anticipate that this route will help strengthen the integration of public transportation in Makkah, minimize traffic, and improve the experience of Umrah pilgrims and tourists.
The opening of Route 9H demonstrates Makkah’s focus on continual urban development while balancing access to the important religious and cultural sites.
Route 9H also demonstrates Makkah’s continued modernization of the city’s public transport system and mobility improvement for residents, pilgrims, and visitors in the holy city. Considering the millions of worshippers visiting Masjid al-Haram yearly, the public transport needs to be efficient and hassle-free to enhance the pilgrim experience.
Having built museums, exhibits, educational centers, and walking paths focused on Islamic history and heritage, the Hira Cultural District located near the historic Jabal al-Nour where the first revelation of the Quran took place, has become one of the most important cultural and spiritual sites in all of Makkah. Direct Hira Cultural District bus access enables visitors to the site to avoid using a private vehicle.
As many travelers want to experience a number of religious sites in a single day, officials claim the bus will be especially useful to tourists and Umrah performers. Route 9H connects the Hira Cultural District and Masjid al-Haram for the first time, and in addition to providing a significant time saving, will be a cheaper alternative to taxis and private cars.
The Makkah Bus Route 9H services Makkah’s new bus stops and further builds on the network’s recent expansions. These additions are the result of urban development schemes focused on sustainability. In the Makkah’s center, the Makkah’s public transport system builds on the Makkah’s long-term developmental priorities, which emphasizes the importance of public transport. Makkah’s public transport initiatives are particularly important during Ramadan and the Hajj.
The Route 9H buses are modern and air-conditioned, and the route has signposted bus stops. Transport officials plan to increase routes to more cultural, residential, and religious areas.
With the opening of Route 9H, Makkah is another step closer to being an accessible city for the millions of tourists that visit every year.
